Anti-H3-5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein H3.5 histone. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 135 amino acid residues and a mass of 15.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and chromosomes. It is notably expressed in the seminiferous tubules of testis. A member of the Histone H3 protein family, H3-5 is an important component of nucleosome. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination, acetylation and phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include H3 histone family member 3C, H3 histone, family 3C, histone H3.5, histone variant H3.5, and histone H3.3C. H3-5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and chimpanzee species.
