Anti-THPO antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein thrombopoietin. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 353 amino acid residues and a mass of 37.8 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the EPO/TPO protein family, THPO is known to be involved with cell proliferation and the cellular response to lipopolysaccharides. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The THPO gene has been associated with the disease, Thrombocythemia. Synonyms for this target antigen include MKCSF, ML, MPLLG, THCYT1, TPO, MPL ligand, c-mpl ligand, and MGDF. THPO gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of THPO antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
