Anti-ELAVL3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ELAV like RNA binding protein 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 367 amino acid residues and a mass of 39.5 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to have brain specific expression. A member of the RRM elav protein family, ELAVL3 is reported to be a RNA-binding protein that binds to AU-rich element (ARE) sequences of target mRNAs, including VEGF mRNA. Synonyms for this target antigen include HUCL, PLE21, ELAV-like protein 3, ELAV (embryonic lethal, abnormal vision, Drosophila)-like 3 (Hu antigen C), ELAV like neuron-specific RNA binding protein 3, and HUC. ELAVL3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species. Over 810 citations in the literature describe the use of ELAVL3 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
