Anti-EEF1AKMT3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein EEF1A lysine methyltransferase 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 226 amino acid residues and a mass of 24.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the METTL21 protein family, EEF1AKMT3 is reported to be a protein-lysine methyltransferase that selectively mono-, di- and trimethylates 'Lys-165' of the translation elongation factors EEF1A1 and EEF1A2 in an aminoacyl-tRNA and GTP-dependent manner. Synonyms for this target antigen include METTL21B, family with sequence similarity 119, member B, hepatocellular carcinoma-associated antigen 557a, hepatocellularcarcinoma-associated antigen HCA557a, and FAM119B. EEF1AKMT3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species. Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for EEF1AKMT3 antibodies.
