Anti-MAIP1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein matrix AAA peptidase interacting protein 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 291 amino acid residues and a mass of 32.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. MAIP1 is reported to promote sorting of SMDT1/EMRE in mitochondria by ensuring its maturation. Synonyms for this target antigen include m-AAA protease-interacting protein 1, mitochondrial. MAIP1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the MAIP1 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
