Anti-SS18L1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein SS18L1 subunit of BAF chromatin remodeling complex. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 396 amino acid residues and a mass of 43 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 5 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the SS18 protein family, SS18L1 is reported to be a transcriptional activator, which is required for calcium-dependent dendritic growth and branching in cortical neurons. Synonyms for this target antigen include LP2261, SMARCL2, calcium-responsive transactivator, SS18-like protein 1, SS18L1, nBAF chromatin remodeling complex subunit, and CREST. SS18L1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of SS18L1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
