Anti-myosin heavy chain 8 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the MYH8 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1937 amino acid residues and a mass of 222.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. A member of the Myosin protein family, it is known to be involved with muscle contraction. Other names for this target antigen include MyHC-peri, MyHC-pn, gtMHC-F, myosin-8, fetal-myosin heavy chain, and DA7.
