The AmCyan tag is a fluorescent protein originally isolated from the coral organism, Anemonia majano. Also known as GFP-like fluorescent chromoprotein amFP486, the protein has an amino acid length of 229 and a mass of approximately 25 kDa. It has an excitation peak at 458 nm and an emission peak at 489 nm. AmCyan tags from expression vectors are typically optimized for mammalian expression with improved solubility and brightness. In addition, antibodies to the AmCyan epitope are available for immunochemical detection.
