Anti-C18orf2 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target C18orf2 is a known alias name of the protein charged multivesicular body protein 1B, encoded by the CHMP1B gene in humans. This 199-amino acid residue protein is a suspected peripherally associated component of the endosomal sorting required for transport complex III (ESCRT-III) which is involved in multivesicular bodies (MVBs) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. It is localized to the membrane and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is widely expressed across many tissue types.
