Anti-CD34 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein CD34 molecule. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 385 amino acid residues and a mass of 40.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the placenta, kidney, endometrium, colon, and cerebral cortex. A member of the CD34 protein family, CD34 is known to be involved with cell adhesion and cell matrix adhesion. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation and phosphorylation.
The CD34 marker can be used to identify Megakaryocytes-Erythroid-Mast Cells Progenitors (MEMP), Granulocyte-Macrophages Progenitor Cells (GMP), Lympho-Myeloid Progenitor (Lmpp) Cells, Multipotent Progenitor Cells (MPP), and Interstitial Like Cell.* Synonyms for this target antigen include CD34 antigen, CD34 sialomucin, and hematopoietic progenitor cell antigen CD34. CD34 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
