Anti-MMP20 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein matrix metallopeptidase 20. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 483 amino acid residues and a mass of 54.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. It is notably expressed in the enamel organ. A member of the Peptidase M10A protein family, MMP20 is known to be involved with extracellular matrix organization and proteolysis. The MMP20 gene has been associated with the disease, Amelogenesis imperfecta. Synonyms for this target antigen include matrix metalloproteinase-20, enamel metalloproteinase, matrix metalloproteinase 20 (enamelysin), and AI2A2. MMP20 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. A number of MMP20 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
