Anti-PIGM antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis class M. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 423 amino acid residues and a mass of 49.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. It is a member of the PIGM protein family. The PIGM gene has been associated with the disease, Glycosylphosphatidylinositol biosynthesis defect. Synonyms for this target antigen include DPM:GlcN-(acyl-)PI mannosyltransferase, GPI mannosyltransferase I, PIG-M mannosyltransferase, dol-P-Man dependent GPI mannosyltransferase, and GPI mannosyltransferase 1. PIGM gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the PIGM antibodies listed below. ELISA, Flow Cytometry, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
