Anti-lysozyme g2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the LYG2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 212 amino acid residues and a mass of 23.5 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Glycosyl hydrolase 23 protein family, it is believed to act as a potent antibacterial protein that may play a role in the innate immunity. Other names for this target antigen include lysozyme g-like protein 2 and lysozyme G-like 2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Some lysozyme g2 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
