Anti-SLC4A9 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein solute carrier family 4 member 9. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 983 amino acid residues and a mass of 108.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to have kidney specific expression. A member of the Anion exchanger (TC 2.A.31) protein family, SLC4A9 is a suspected apical anion exchanger of the kidney cortex. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation.
The SLC4A9 marker can be used to identify Type B Intercalated Cells, Transitional Principal-Intercalated Cells, and Cortical Collecting Duct Intercalated Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include anion exchanger 4, sodium bicarbonate cotransporter 5, solute carrier family 4, sodium bicarbonate cotransporter, member 9, and anion exchange protein 4. SLC4A9 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
