Anti-SLC4A8 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein solute carrier family 4 member 8. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1093 amino acid residues and a mass of 122.9 kDa. Up to 8 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in the pyramidal cells of the hippocampus. A member of the Anion exchanger (TC 2.A.31) protein family, SLC4A8 is known to mediate electroneutral sodium- and carbonate-dependent chloride-HCO3(-) exchange with a Na(+):HCO3(-) stoichiometry of 2:1. Synonyms for this target antigen include NDCBE, electroneutral sodium bicarbonate exchanger 1, electroneutral Na(+)-driven Cl-HCO3 exchanger, k-NBC3, solute carrier family 4, sodium bicarbonate cotransporter, member 8, and NBC3. SLC4A8 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some SLC4A8 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
