Anti-phosducin like antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the PDCL gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 301 amino acid residues and a mass of 34.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell projections. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Phosducin protein family, it is known to act as a positive regulator of hedgehog signaling and regulates ciliary function. Other names for this target antigen include PhLP and phosducin-like protein. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some phosducin like antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
