Anti-PIGK antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis class K. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 395 amino acid residues and a mass of 45.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of a the Peptidase C13 protein family, PIGK is known to mediate GPI anchoring in the endoplasmic reticulum, by replacing a protein's C-terminal GPI attachment signal peptide with a pre-assembled GPI. Synonyms for this target antigen include NEDHCAS, GPI-anchor transamidase, GPI transamidase subunit, GPI8 homolog, phosphatidylinositol glycan, class K, and GPI8.
