Anti-HEY1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein hes related family bHLH transcription factor with YRPW motif 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 304 amino acid residues and a mass of 32.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in the somitic mesoderm, the central nervous system, the kidney, the heart, nasal epithelium, and limbs. A member of the HEY protein family, HEY1 is known to be a transcriptional repressor which binds preferentially to the canonical E box sequence 5'-CACGTG-3'. The HEY1 marker can be used to identify Artery Endothelial Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include CHF2, HERP2, HESR1, HRT-1, NERP2, OAF1, hHRT1, and BHLHb31. HEY1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
