Anti-POLA1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein DNA polymerase alpha 1, catalytic subunit. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1462 amino acid residues and a mass of 165.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. A member of a the DNA polymerase type-B protein family, POLA1 is a known catalytic subunit of the DNA polymerase alpha complex (also known as the alpha DNA polymerase-primase complex) which plays an essential role in the initiation of DNA synthesis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including protein cleavage. Synonyms for this target antigen include PDR, POLA, VEODS, p180, DNA polymerase alpha catalytic subunit, and NSX.
