Anti-ALDH6A1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein aldehyde dehydrogenase 6 family member A1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 535 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Aldehyde dehydrogenase protein family, ALDH6A1 is reported to play a role in valine and pyrimidine metabolism. Synonyms for this target antigen include MMSDH, methylmalonate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase [acylating], mitochondrial, malonate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase (acetylating), and MMSADHA. ALDH6A1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of ALDH6A1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
