Anti-H2AZ1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein H2A.Z variant histone 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 128 amino acid residues and a mass of 13.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and chromosomes. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Histone H2A protein family, H2AZ1 is known to be involved with the regulation of transcription. Post-translational modifications have been described, including methylation, ubiquitination, acetylation and phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include H2A.z, H2A/z, H2AFZ, H2AZ, histone H2A.Z, H2A histone family member Z, H2AZ histone, and H2A.Z-1. H2AZ1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
