Anti-15-PGDH antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The 15-PGDH antigen is another term for the human protein 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase, encoded by the HPGD gene. The protein is known to catalyze the NAD-dependent dehydrogenation (oxidation) of a broad array of hydroxylated polyunsaturated fatty acids (mainly eicosanoids and docosanoids, including prostaglandins, lipoxins and resolvins), yielding their corresponding keto (oxo) metabolites. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 266 residues and a mass of 29 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm and it is notably expressed in colon epithelium. The 15-PGDH protein is a member of the Short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) protein family. Other alias names for 15-PGDH include PGDH. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for 15-PGDH antibodies.
