Anti-FCN2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ficolin 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 313 amino acid residues and a mass of 34 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. A member of the Ficolin lectin protein family, FCN2 is believed to function in innate immunity through activation of the lectin complement pathway. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include FCNL, P35, 37 kDa elastin-binding protein, L-ficolin, collagen/fibrinogen domain-containing protein 2, and EBP-37. FCN2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and chicken species. A number of FCN2 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
