Anti-MTMR1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein myotubularin related protein 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 665 amino acid residues and a mass of 74.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Protein-tyrosine phosphatase protein family, MTMR1 is reported to be a lipid phosphatase that has high specificity for phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate and has no activity with phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate, phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate and phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate. Synonyms for this target antigen include phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate 3-phosphatase and phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate phosphatase. MTMR1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
