Anti-HER2 antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene ERBB2, or 'erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2' in humans. The 1255-amino acid protein is a member of the Protein kinase superfamily, Tyr protein kinase family, EGF receptor subfamily and the HER2 antigen is a documented cancer marker. The cellular localization is predicted to be cytoplasmic, nuclear and membrane-associated. Glycosylation sites have been reported.
