Anti-NDUFA1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit A1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 70 amino acid residues and a mass of 8.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is notably expressed in heart and skeletal muscle. A member of a the Complex I NDUFA1 subunit protein family, NDUFA1 is reported to be an accessory subunit the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I), that is believed not to be involved in catalysis. Synonyms for this target antigen include MC1DN12, MWFE, ZNF183, NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] 1 alpha subcomplex subunit 1, and CI-MWFE.
