Anti-p40 phox antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target p40 phox is a known alias name of the protein neutrophil cytosolic factor 4, encoded by the NCF4 gene in humans. This 339-amino acid residue protein is a known component of the NADPH-oxidase, a multicomponent enzyme system responsible for the oxidative burst in which electrons are transported from NADPH to molecular oxygen, generating reactive oxidant intermediates. It is localized to the membrane and cytoplasm of the cell. It is reported to be expressed in the rectum, lymph node, lung, colon, and bone marrow. Other synonyms for p40 phox include CGD3 and NCF. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for p40 phox antibodies.
