Anti-ELOVL3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ELOVL fatty acid elongase 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 270 amino acid residues and a mass of 31.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. It is notably expressed in the testis. A member of the ELO protein family, ELOVL3 is known to catalyze the first and rate-limiting reaction of the four reactions that constitute the long-chain fatty acids elongation cycle. Post-translational modifications have been described, including N-glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include 3-keto acyl-CoA synthase ELOVL3, ELOVL FA elongase 3, cold-inducible glycoprotein of 30 kDa, and elongation of very long chain fatty acids protein 3. ELOVL3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some ELOVL3 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
