Anti-COL4A6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein collagen type IV alpha 6 chain. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1691 amino acid residues and a mass of 163.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Type IV collagen protein family, COL4A6 is known to be involved with cell adhesion and extracellular matrix organization. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include DELXq22.3, DFNX6, collagen alpha-6(IV) chain, collagen IV, alpha-6 polypeptide, collagen of basement membrane, alpha-6, and CXDELq22.3. COL4A6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 170 citations in the literature describe the use of COL4A6 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
