Anti-ANKRD16 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ankyrin repeat domain 16. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 361 amino acid residues and a mass of 39.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. ANKRD16 is known to be required to prevent the misactivation of serine (Ser) with tRNA(Ala) by promoting the hydrolysis of Ser-mischarged tRNA(Ala), thereby playing a role in translational fidelity. Synonyms for this target antigen include ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 16.
