Anti-TRA2.10 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target TRA2.10 is a known alias name of the protein CD46 molecule, encoded by the CD46 gene in humans. This 392-amino acid residue protein is known to act as a cofactor for complement factor I, a serine protease which protects autologous cells against complement-mediated injury by cleaving C3b and C4b deposited on host tissue. It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles of the cell and features O-glycosylated, N-glycosylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is noted to be expressed by all cells except erythrocytes. Other synonyms for TRA2.10 include AHUS2, MCP, and MIC10.
