Anti-BCL2 associated athanogene 3 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BAG3 in humans. The gene may also be known as BIS, BAG-3, CAIR-1, MFM6, BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 3, and BCL2-binding athanogene 3. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 61.6 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, plant, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
