Anti-Transglutaminase 6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the TGM6 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 706 amino acid residues and a mass of 79.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Transglutaminase protein family, it is known to catalyze the cross-linking of proteins and the conjugation of polyamines to proteins. Other names for this target antigen include TGase Y, TGase-6, transglutaminase y, and protein-glutamine gamma-glutamyltransferase 6.
