Anti-Derlin 3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DERL3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 235 amino acid residues and a mass of 26.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 5 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Derlin protein family, it is reported to be a functional component of endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) for misfolded lumenal glycoproteins, but not that of misfolded nonglycoproteins. Other names for this target antigen include Der1-like domain family, member 3, degradation in endoplasmic reticulum protein 3, der1-like protein 3, and DERtrin 3.
