Anti-Calpain 3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CAPN3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 821 amino acid residues and a mass of 94.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 5 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Peptidase C2 protein family, it is known to be involved with the apoptotic pathway and muscle organ development. Other names for this target antigen include CANPL3, LGMD2, LGMD2A, LGMDD4, LGMDR1, nCL-1, p94, and CANP3.
