Anti-KIFAP3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein kinesin associated protein 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 792 amino acid residues and a mass of 91.2 kDa. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. KIFAP3 is known to be involved in tethering the chromosomes to the spindle pole and in chromosome movement. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include KAP-1, KAP-3, KAP3, SMAP, Smg-GDS, dJ190I16.1, small G protein GDP dissociation stimulator, and FLA3. KIFAP3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of KIFAP3 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunocytochemistry and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
