Anti-TMPRSS6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane serine protease 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 811 amino acid residues and a mass of 90 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Peptidase S1 protein family, TMPRSS6 is known to be involved with the regulation of transcription. Post-translational modifications have been described, including protein cleavage and glycosylation. The TMPRSS6 gene has been associated with the disease, Iron-refractory iron deficiency anemia. Synonyms for this target antigen include matriptase-2, membrane-bound mosaic serine proteinase matriptase-2, transmembrane protease, serine 6, type II transmembrane serine protease 6, and transmembrane protease serine 6. TMPRSS6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some TMPRSS6 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
