Magnetic genomic DNA purification

Magnetic genomic DNA purification kits use iron-based beads or resins coated with compounds that bind DNA chemically by charge, salt, or pH. These particles enable the capture of the total DNA, separating them from the rest of the cell debris and lysate components. Application of an external magnet (magnetic separators) then facilitates the enrichment of the magnetic particle-DNA complexes for purification. Magnetic-based isolation kits, such as those in 96-well microplate formats, are often well-suited for automated workflows.
