Trypan Blue

Trypan blue is a vital diazo dye that will stain dead cells blue. The blue dye can pass the membrane of a dead cell, but not a viable cell’s selective membrane. This technique is known as the dye exclusion method. By using this method, it’s very easy to differentiate which cells are live and dead under a microscope. The dye can also be used to test for tissue viability in species such as mice.
