Product Name:

BIOFLOAT 96 Well Plate

Catalog Number:

FC0001-96WP-8

We use the BIOFLOAT ULA 96 Well Plates from FaCellitate for generating Spheroids from PDAC cell lines and analyze their invasion properties into Matrigel. Therefore we seed 5000 cells per well into the plate and let them grow for 24 hours. After that we remove most of the media and add Matrigel Solution on top. After that we evaluate the invasive properties using a live cell imaging device and software.

Tips

The company FaCellitate coats the plate and does not produce them themselves. The plates originate from Sarstedt. The Coating provides the surface qualities to not let cells adhere to the bottom.

Summary

The Good

Because the plate is from sarstedt you already know the basic properties of the plates. We compared several plates from different companies before choosing the Facellitate plates for spheroid generation. The spheroids not only form a lot quicker compared to the other distributors. The imaging qualities are very good as well. There are a lot less scratches or other flaws in the wells. So far we haven't had issues with the plates from Facellitate.

The Bad

The only slightly negative thing about the plates is the casing in which they are provided. There are 5 plates packed in one package. The packages are sealed with a "clip" line like for freezer bags. You really have to be careful when closing them because otherwise the rest of the plates inside the package get "unsterile".

The Bottom Line

Very good plates, the coating works pretty good for spheroid generation and evaluation per live cell imaging. I would definitely recommend these plates.
