I used this antibody to stain human neutrophils from the matching blood and BAL samples of a cystic fibrosis patient for analysis by flow cytometry.

CD66b has 2 uses in this analysis: It is used as a neutrophil-specific marker for the gating upstream, and it indicates granule exocytosis. The BAL neutrophils have greater expression of CD66b and greater dynamic range of expression, indicating exocytosis of the secondary granules which is characteristic of airway neutrophils in CF. This antibody works well for cells of various sample types and for creating single-stained compensation beads. Signal loss is minimal following fixation and storage at 4 degrees for up to 2 weeks. Samples were fixed overnight and washed with PBS the next day for storage until sample acquisition.
