Pipetman, P2, P20, P200, P1000 From Gilson

Pipetman, P2, P20, P200, P1000 From Gilson
Certainly the most used pipettes in laboratories, the Gilson Pipetmans deserve their success. Gilson pipettes meet the critical requirements of a good pipette. They are accurate, robust, easy to use, easy to adjust, easy to maintain and competitively priced for their quality.

I use these pipettes for basic molecular and cellular biology lab work, in both normal and sterile conditions. Gilson Pipetmans P2, P20 and P200, P1000 are compatible with standard white, yellow and blue tips, respectively. While other brands of pipettes may seem softer to use, Gilson Pipettes are firm and robust, and will last longer. The combination of an extensive handbook and the ability to completely dismantle the pipettes allows you to perform comprehensive maintenance in order to preserve your pipettes’ accuracy and keep them working well over time. Moreover, the handbook gives procedures to test your pipettes and identify failures. It is then possible to change damaged parts instead of the entire pipette. The Gilson Pipetmans also come with handy features including clips to personalize your pipettes and adhesive pipette-holders.

While it is valuable having pipettes that you can maintain yourself, Gilson Pipetmans require regular maintenance to keep them in good working order. For example, the tip ejector has a tendency to constantly move toward the end of the pipette and needs to be regularly fixed so that it returns back to its initial position. If this is not done, the tip does not bind tightly to the end of the pipette. Also, the O-ring inside the pipette is a critical part of the pipette; it requires frequent checking. Otherwise, the initial accuracy is affected.
