I use these pipettes for basic molecular and cellular biology lab work, in both normal and sterile conditions. While it is valuable having pipettes that you can maintain yourself, Gilson Pipetmans require regular maintenance to keep them in good working order. For example, the tip ejector has a tendency to constantly move toward the end of the pipette and needs to be regularly fixed so that it returns back to its initial position. If this is not done, the tip does not bind tightly to the end of the pipette. Also, the O-ring inside the pipette is a critical part of the pipette; it requires frequent checking. Otherwise, the initial accuracy is affected.
