As a T cell immunology lab, we assess T cell exhaustion by analyzing surface expression of PD1 since this is the first marker typically seen. T cells with expression of PD1 are truly exhausted therefore making checkpoint therapy ever so more important. We use this antibody to detect PD1 expression by flow cytometry.
