Our lab studies the role of mTOR signaling and metabolism in CD8 T cell differentiation and function. We perform numerous adoptive transfer experiments of donor transgenic T cells (CD90.1) into different WT B6 congenic hosts (CD90.2). To analyze the donor T cells, we use CD90.1 to distinguish host versus donor. This marker is quite robust since it separates quite well from the host CD8 T cells. The AF700 Thy1.1 antibody readily fits into my panel since it's usually a dim channel, but this antibody is quite too bright. We are able to readily identify the donor cells using this antibody.

Summary

The Good

Reliably good and bright at such a dilute concentration so it's cheaper in the long run

The Bad

Must titrate the antibody since it's too bright

The Bottom Line

Truly a great antibody to fit into the Red channel of a multi-color flow panel. This antibody is quite bright to identify the donor cells.
