Our laboratory studies T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL), a cancer of developing T cells. In order to examine the composition and organization of the tumor microenvironment, our lab utilizes a wide variety of markers to identify specific cellular subsets of the tumor microenvironment. We picked this antibody for immunofluorescence imaging knowing that it would characterize the architecture of the tumor microenvironment in T-ALL in our mouse model. Keratin 5 (K5) is a marker of medullary thymic epithelial cells (mTECs), so I used this antibody to examine the architecture of the thymic medulla with IF imaging.

Summary

The Good

This works great on thymus medulla and is a very standard stain in our lab.

The Bad

K5 is great for IF imaging, but there are better antibodies for flow cytometry.

The Bottom Line

I love it and it is fantastic at defining thymic medulla.
