We have identified a class of ATPase inhibitors that show promise for treatment of ovarian cancer. We are currently evaluating what mechanisms, if any, may lead to resistance to theses ATPase inhibitors. We are measuring changes in protein expression in an animal model of drug resistance. We purchased several of these power packs because we use precast gels to minimize variability among researchers techniques. These were relatively affordable, and at the time of purchase there was a promotion offering a free transfer chamber and a free box of gels.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Electrophoresis (Western blotting)

Starting Material

Tumor cell lysates

Protocol Overview

Typically, I run electrophoresis samples at 60V to begin then increase to 100V after ~15 minutes.

Tips

This power pac can be sensitive to buffer volumes in the electrophoresis chamber, so be aware when running and don't walk away too soon.

Results Summary

I've had great success using this power pack for electrophoresis of protein samples (and with nucleic acids). It should be noted that this power pack requires use of BioRad precast gels. There are additional BioRad units that can be used with hand-poured gels. I've used the system for 6 years without needing to replace any parts.
