Company:

BD Biosciences

Product Name:

Purified Mouse Anti-N-Cadherin

Catalog Number:

610921

N-cadherin (neural cadherin) is commonly expressed by cancer cells of different tissue origin. This protein is important for homotypic (e.g., tumor cell-tumor cell) and heterotypic (e.g., tumor cell-endothelail cell) inter-cellular interactions. We analyzed the expression of N-cadherin in comparison with the expression of E-cadherin to determine the extent of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in metastatic tumor cells.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Western Blot

Sample

Lysates of human tumor cells

Primary Incubation

Antibody at a final concentration of 1 microgram/ml, ON incubation with gentle rocking in a cold room

Blocking Agent

5% BSA in PBS-0.05% Tween; 45-60 min, RT, gentle rocking

Secondary Incubation

Horse anti mouse antibody; 1:3,000; 1 hr; RT

Detection

West Pico

Results Summary

This mouse monoclonal antibody nicely recognizes one protein band with an apparent mol. wt. of ~135 kDa, which corresponds to expected mol. mass of human N-cadherin.

Additional Notes

The image demonstrates imilar levels of N-cadherin in human tumor cells, which have high, low and no detectable levels of E-cadherin.
