Our lab routinely works with different cell populations isolated from human PBMCs. Since our autoMACS broke we have been using this magnet for all of our cell separations. We have only used it with Miltenyi Biotec beads. It is easy to use and works great.

Prepare and label the cells per protocol of whatever cell separation kit you are using. Apply the cells to the LS column on the magnet, wash, elute your cells of interest.

Very straight forward, the yield and purity is the same as when using the autoMACS (the automated cell separation platform from Miltenyi).

Summary

The Good

Works as well as the automated cell separator, durable, accommodates 4 columns at once.

The Bad

Need to buy a stand for it as well, or buy one of the starter kits which include some items you don't necessarily need

The Bottom Line

Works as well as the automated separator but it will not break down like the autoMACS does. Would recommend.
