Catalog Number:

K0221

We are studying lung disease in a murine model, in this experiment we ran a qPCR to quantify different regions of the mitochondrial and nuclear genomes. We used this product because it was recommended to us by a colleague and because we had used it with success in the past.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Quantitative PCR

Starting Material

Murine lymphocytes

Protocol Overview

Standard qPCR reaction prep protocol:For each reaction combine: primers, template DNA, nuclease-free water, and Maxima SYBR Green/ROX master mix. The protocol concentrations leave some room for optimizing your primer concentrations as well as your annealing and extension temperatures. Note, this is not an ultra-fast taq, and so your cycle times will have to be minimum 15s for denaturation and 60s for annealing/extension. Hot start is optional.

Tips

You can optimize your primer concentrations. This is a standard taq and cannot be run on ultra-fast cycles.

Results Summary

Generated clean, reliable results. We used to create a standard curve and it turned out beautifully.

Summary

The Good

Easy to use, reliable, allows for some optimization.

The Bad

Nothing, really. It is not an ultra-fast taq, so it has standard run times.

The Bottom Line

Great product. Reasonably priced, easy to use, produces reliable results. We've even had great results from 2+ yr old frozen Maxima SYBR (past its packaged expiration date).
