Product Name:

Cryopreserved Human Skeletal Muscle Cells, adult

Catalog Number:

These primary human skeletal muscle cells were purchased to use as a in vitro model to study drug-induced myopathy. We tried to elucidate the mechanism behind these adverse drug effect. These cells were the closes model we can find for our project.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

In vitro cell models

Starting Material

Cryopreserved Human Skeletal Muscle Cells

Protocol Overview

The cells were thawed, put in culture upon arrival. When they reach 60-80% confluence, they were subcultured, and again until the desired amount is obtained. Then, the cells are plated and differentiated by changing to differentiation media.

Tips

Use new flasks and plates per subculture to yield maximun cells. Don't leave cell too long in trypsin for higher survival rate.

Results Summary

We were able to determined the possible mechanism by which certain drugs can cause the drug-induced myopathy.

Summary

The Good

These cells are the only primary muscle cells that differentiated well.

The Bad

It takes a long time to grow theses cells and they need regular media changing.

The Bottom Line

I recommend this product for anyone who have the budget and want to use a good muscle model for their studies.
